London, August 2024 - Pledge is partnering with the Irish International Freight Association (IIFA), the national representative body for freight forwarders and customs brokers in Ireland. This collaboration underscores our commitment to expanding the support for the freight industry in achieving its sustainability and regulatory compliance goals.
As a key player in the freight forwarding and customs brokerage sector, IIFA is acutely aware of the growing need for its members to calculate and report their customers’ carbon emissions accurately and to keep them informed about sustainability efforts within the supply chain. Modern business tenders increasingly require concrete evidence of emission reductions for cargo shipments and proof of sustainable operational practices. Additionally, new regulations mandating carbon reporting are impacting freight forwarders’ operations as shippers look for support from their freight and customs partners in meeting their own climate reporting obligations.
With support and comprehensive guidance from Pledge, IIFA members will be better positioned to meet these evolving standards and align their operations with their customers’ sustainability goals. IIFA has also integrated the Pledge Freight Emissions Calculator into its website, enabling members access to GLEC-accredited and ISO 14083-aligned carbon emissions calculations.
Seamus Kavanagh, Executive Officer at IIFA, shared his thoughts on the partnership: “Within IIFA, we are very pleased to be working in association with Pledge in supporting our members with their sustainability journeys. Pledge’s emissions calculator was demonstrated to IIFA at the 2023 FIATA World Congress in Brussels and we are pleased to be now able to facilitate access to this practical tool for members through the IIFA website.
As service providers, freight forwarders and customs brokers are relied upon by their Clients to offer solutions and guide them on compliance matters. Pledge offers focused support with carbon tracking through an industry-focused and customisable tool that can benefit IIFA members of all sizes. Over the months ahead, IIFA looks forward to sharing guidance from Pledge to better educate members and to offer actions which they can take to further aid and develop their sustainability goals.”
David de Picciotto, CEO and co-founder of Pledge said: "Partnering with the Irish International Freight Association will help drive sustainability within the freight industry in the Irish market. By joining forces with IIFA, we are empowering its members to transition to more sustainable ways of operating, ensuring they can meet new regulatory requirements and exceed their customers’ expectations for carbon emissions reporting and sustainable practices.”
The Irish International Freight Association is Ireland’s national representative body for Irish freight forwarders and customs brokers, those businesses which ensure that cargo moves across international borders in a compliant, safe and efficient manner. With over 150 members nationwide, IIFA supports its members through updates on regulatory and operational procedural changes and with representation through key national and international stakeholder groups, notably FIATA and CLECAT.
IIFA supports the learning and development of individuals within the Irish industry through the delivery of the Irish version of the FIATA Diploma in Freight Forwarding, a Customs Clearance & Practical Customs Declaration Completion course and a 12-week Introduction to Freight Forwarding programme.
