On April 17th, a group of over 60 delegates from member companies of Irish International Freight Association participated in a tour of the Border Control Post at Dublin Port. The tour set out from the Gibson Hotel, before following the route of incoming consignments.
The first stop on the tour was at the IUPT, where Customs check vehicles and their passengers arriving from ferries.
The tour travelled from Terminal 11, before travelling to the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine’s (DAFM) building at Terminal 10.
After a guided tour of the facility and a Q&A, the group moved to Terminal 7 – the point for seal checks – before finishing at Terminal 9.
Terminal 9 included a look at the refridgeration and cooling rooms, present to maintain the cold chain during inspections.

This was IIFA’s third such BCP Port Tour for Members. The tour once again received positive feedback from attending members, appreciative of the opportunity to witness the inner workings of control operations and the layout of Dublin Port. IIFA will aim to offer a fourth such tour for more members who send their Colleagues for this tour 2025.
