2022 IIFA FIATA Diploma Graduation Ceremony

A Graduation event was held this past Saturday 12th November 2022 at the IIFA Office for Graduates of the 2021 – 2022 IIFA FIATA Diploma in Freight Forwarding. 40 Graduates successfully completed their studies and were awarded their Diplomas by IIFA President Terry Sweeney. Over a year ago, these Participants undertook to study 10 modules covering the cornerstones of the Freight Forwarding and Customs Brokerage industry across what can be a very demanding programme. Their hard work paid off as the knowledge they sought is now part of their skillset, evidenced by their successful and well-earned results. IIFA congratulates all of the Graduates and wishes them continued success in their future endeavours.

A separate presentation was also made on the day to Corey Jordan of IIFA Member Network International Cargo Limited in recognition of his work in representing Ireland with the 2022 FIATA Young Logistics Professional Award. Corey’s thesis “Brexit Phase Two. The Freight Forwarder dealing with the realities of Customs and adding value to their services” was an excellent case study of a Freight Forwarder’s role in aiding their Client through a complex cargo movement. This thesis is in fact a record of a cargo movement from January 2021 and indirectly acts as a time capsule of the difficult period Forwarders faced as Customs Clearance procedures were first re-introduced between Irish and UK trade. The full rulebook had not yet been written and Corey’s thesis is a solid record of a Freight Forwarder’s effort to deliver on their Client’s needs and to keep the Supply Chain both flowing and compliant.

The annual IIFA FIATA Diploma Graduation is always a highlight in the IIFA Calendar and with over 50 Attendees between Graduates and their Family, Friends and work Colleagues, all eager to share in the celebrations, this was a wonderful event to celebrate the future of the Irish Freight Forwarding and Customs Brokerage industry.
